Heresy or Hearsay?

Ok, we had our fun. Since the new edition of the Horus Heresy has now been officially announced, the least we can do is tell you which of these posts were Heresy (true) and which were Hearsay (false).

Check the stamp on each post to find out.

More Like, VULNERABLE Saves, Amarite!?!

Rumours suggest that invulnerable saves are being removed from the game COMPLETELY.

We could never make 4++ saves anyway, so no major loss there.

HEARSAY! - Won’t make a difference - still won’t pass any.

Single Piece Legionaries!

Breaking news! SINGLE piece plastic Space Marines are coming. What a time to be alive.

Though we don't think much of the detail.

HEARSAY! - This is a tiny Legions Imperialis Space Marine miniature.

What’s he so mad about?

Found this chap – we don’t recognise the helmet pattern. Can anyone identify it? Looks new…

One thing we are sure of is that he’s very, very cross.

HERESY! - This angry fellow is the new Centurion in MkII Power Armour, and star of the new Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Cinematic Trailer.

On Your Marks!

We’re hearing that armour marks are no longer just aesthetic, and that units will only get the benefit of their legion rules if they’re wearing the correct mark of armour.

Iron Warriors in MKIII, Death Guard in MKII, etc…

Quite right too!

HEARSAY! - This might have been a tad harsh.

It’s a…

What? Genuinely no idea, sorry. Maybe a powerpack of some sort?

If you know what it is, please tell us, would you?

HERESY! - This is from the power supply on the back of each Saturnine Terminator.

UNITS SWITCHING SIDES??

Okay, this is big

Obviously the Horus Heresy’s all about betrayal. We are now hearing that there’s a mechanic being introduced in the new edition that allows units to leave one army and join the other MID-GAME. Not sure on details yet but will update here if we hear more. Possibly something to do with that D18!?

HEARSAY! - This was traitor lies.

Only in luxurious, cushioned comfort does duty end

Is this the inside of a Dreadnought? Looks pretty cushy.

Here we were thinking that mortally wounded astartes were consigned to an eternity floating about in horrible fluid, but if it’s like this, then sign me up!

HERESY - Not quite a FULL Dreadnought, this is the padding behind the head of each suite of Saturnine Tactical Dreadnought Armour.

Not My Aquila

Cannot believe this! Official art from GW shows this complete redesign of the imperial aquila. IT’S ONLY GOT ONE HEAD. We’re hearing the two-headed eagle we know and love is now 40K ONLY.

In actual shock. Do we need to file one of the heads of all our older models?

HEARSAY! - This is actually the Saturnine Eagle. Two-headed eagles are still the norm for most folks.

Sad news for the Shattered Legions

We’ve heard that none of the 3 Loyalist Isstvan Legions will be getting any rules this edition, as they pretty much all died in the first battle, so no one wants to play them anyway.

HEARSAY! - Rules for every Legion, hooray! (Except, you know, the missing 2...)

Decisions, decisions…

Which intimidating gesture do you prefer your space marines to perform? Accusatory pointing, or threatening fist-clenching? Well, good news – looks like we’re going to be able to choose for ourselves!

HERESY! - Those are Saturnine Terminator hands.

Drop Pods are Square Now!

Look at this guys - a new sprue, and CLEARLY the base of a Drop Pod, but square? This is massive! What does it mean for squad sizes?

HERESY! - Drop pods retain their classic echinodermian shape. This is part of the new Araknae Quad Accelerator Platform.

Choose your rules, Alpha Legion

We’re hearing that the XXth Legion don’t get any of their own rules, instead they just copy their opponents special rules in every game. Truly, the sneakiest!

HEARSAY! - Typical Alpha Legion lies.

Cardboard Dreadnoughts, Anyone?

Ok, so now we’re hearing that the dreadnought that comes in the box is CARDBOARD, which makes total sense if you think about it - a classic call-back to 2nd edition 40k.

HEARSAY! - Cards on the table, this was a lie.

It’s servo skull time

NEW SPRUE ALERT!

Who or what get’s its own servo skull? Mechanicum tech priest? Tech marine? Captain? PLASTIC primarch!?

We know what our money’s on!

HERESY! - See this little guy in the new Horus Heresy cinematic trailer, though he doesn’t last very long…

Based!

We’re hearing that Dreadnoughts are going back on square bases! Which makes total sense as they are sort of square anyway. Seems legit. Makes armour facings easier to work out, at least.

HEARSAY! - Don’t be a square.

We’re Getting Warmer

It makes our hearts melt – great to see the Multi-melta getting a design update. Do you prefer this design, or the old one?

HERESY - Not a multi-melta – this is a new disintegrator blaster! It can be carried as a special weapon by Legionary Veterans.

Umbrellas Up!

We’re hearing rumours of a Blood Bowl-style weather chart! Could lead some some super interesting battlefield interactions tbf. Death Guard – watch out for trench foot.

HEARSAY! - Space Marines don’t care about the rain.

We’re losing our heads…

…or someone is, anyway. Found this – cool head! Can anyone confirm if new?? The detailing on the mouthguard doesn’t look familiar…

HEARSAY - This head is from the current MkVI kits.

Shattered Legions incoming?

Rumour has it that the campaign for the edition is gonna focus on the Shattered Legions - some realy cool opportunities for raven guard, salamanders, and iron hands scenarios…

HEARSAY! - The first campaign books will focus on Isstvan V.

The Emperor protects…

…with cool bits of armour. Clearly new, but what is it? Chest piece? Bit of a turret or a sponson? Those studs aren’t a shape we recognise…

HERESY! - An armour plate from the massive shoulders of the Saturnine Dreadnought.

MINDS BLOWN

Well. We didn’t see this coming. How could we? We’re not mind readers. Rumour has it that the psychic phase is making a return, and that there’s a Psychic Lore for EACH INDIVIDUAL LEGION.

HEARSAY! - Not sure what a World Eaters Psychic Lore would have looked like, now we think about it…

Listen up, soldiers!

Rumour has it characters can now issue orders to units, like in Legions Imperialis. If true, could be a really interesting mechanic for adding even more flavour to Legions!

HEARSAY! - Your characters will be too busy fighting epic duels for any of this.

Health & Safety Nightmare

More sprues - looks like there’s even more plasma on the way!!

No idea which unit can take this, but it looks super dangerous to… someone?

HERESY - This is the blaster from the new Saturnine Praetor.

2 and 11

So NOW we’re hearing that the d18 is just a d20 with the 2 and the 11 scratched off.

Cool and thematic? Or are d20s cheaper to manufacture? Both?

HEARSAY! - icosa-gone

Buckle Up!

Big news for combi-weapon fans - the straps are now adjustable.

Will that change the stats? Maybe!?

HERESY! - See this gun in action in the new Warhammer: The Horus Heresy Cinematic Trailer!

Metal Bawkses

Check this out! Battle damaged tank sprue? Looks like a new Rhino to us. Or maybe a predator or whirlwind or Vindicator? One thing we’re pretty sure on is this is definitely not a Razorback.

HERESY! - It’s a new sprue, and it’s actually the ruins of a Rapier Battery from under the foot of the new Saturnine Praetor.

Big News for Dreadnoughts

We’ve already seen one dreadnought rumour - well guess what? We’re now hearing that dreads can THROW marines as a shooting attack. Which obviously they could in real life so actually quite an interesting rule? All for more realism in the game tbh.

HEARSAY! - Sad to say, not true. Maybe one day.

We are shocked

New token type? We’re hearing this marks a unit as “titanshocked” - a new ability superheavies get against smaller units.

HERESY! - It’s not “Titanshock” but this is a new component – this is the Tactical Status Marker for “Routed”. One of 4 new Tactical Statuses represented by tokens in the Saturnine set.

MORE DREADNOUGHT NEWS

Hearing dreadnoughts are getting vehicle stats again. Makes us definitely think the throwing marines thing is true - makes a lot of sense.

HEARSAY! - No, but they do get three other new stats – CL, WP, and IN.

Too Good to be True?

Is this the new Box Set!?!

We’re skeptical. How come the photos are so bad?

Photographer, the bigfoot guy called - he wants his camera back.

HERESY! - It was REAL!

This dreadnought is clearly too big

Like, look at this thing!? It’s nuts. No way that’s real.

Clearly photoshopped by someone who doesn’t know how big Dreadnoughts are supposed to be.

HERESY! - Oh Lord, he comin’.

No dice, photo leak!

We KNOW there’s a D18 in the new box, but we don’t see one here?

Must be fake.

HERESY! - Cubes, Confirmed!

OVER-Overheat?

No one needs 2 plasma cannons. How does he scratch his nose?

Looks cool though. Shame it’s not real.

HERESY! - Non-plasma arms are also available.

Enhance!

We zoomed in on the text, and it’s total gibberish.

“Small parts?” Really? Have you seen that dreadnought? Those are LARGE parts.

And the next bit looks like it’s in some crazy made-up xenos language we’ve never seen before. *EDIT: Scratch that last part, it was French. Our bad.

HERESY! - You can even get the whole game in French, along with German or English, just like the current edition.

That’s not a bolter

Erm… Did these guys do ANY research? That’s not what a bolter looks like.

You can’t just “make up new guns”, guys. Who are you, Mars?

HERESY! - That is a heavy disintegrator! A new heavy weapon option for Legionary Veteran squads.

Why can’t we see INSIDE the box?

We have a theory.

The box clearly states not suitable for under 3s, but also recommended for age 12+, meaning there is an age range where you can HOLD the box, but not open it.

Therefore, this photo must have been taken by a child aged 4-11. It’s the only explanation.

That might also account for the shoddy camera work.

HERESY! - Your photo still sucks.

Bolter Blues?

Apparently botguns are going to S3 in the new edition. Huge boost to survivability of marines on foot.

Another possible bonus to Salamanders playstyle?

HEARSAY! - Staying at S4. Even in the age of the Imperial Truth, some things are sacred.

Pump the brakes

Now hearing WHITE SCARS in the box. Are we seeing loyalist vs loyalist? Or maybe more than 2 legions in the box?

HEARSAY! - Khan’t believe we ever thought this was possible.

Flame weapons ftl

Hearing flame templates are HALFING in size. Feels rough on armies like salamanders, but depends what else we see happen to weapons. There’s always melta.

HEARSAY! - The BBQ is back on.

TACTICAL POUCH CONFIRMED

Found a sprue with a pouch on. Don’t recognize it – any one know if new or not? It’s a completely separate piece so must be an option/points costed. Grenades? New extra ammo mechanic?

HERESY! - Confirmed indeed! This pouch holds the ammo for the Disintegrator rifles on on your new MKII Legionary Veterans.

Flame Weapons FTW

Hearing flame templates are doubling in size. Must be to give the Sallies a big push as poster boys for the new edition. Fire change?

Bring me the HEAVY flamer!

HEARSAY! - Sorry Salamander’s fans – flame templates stay the same size.

Have you seen this crest?!?

SPOTTED: Anyone know what this is? Looks a bit like a crux terminatus without the skull. Campaign badge or something, maybe? New type of reinforcement stud? Previous big box had a praetor so wonder if we’re seeing a new design.

HERESY! - You are looking at a teleport synchroniser from the new Saturnine Terminators.

Do the math

Number 2 in a crosshair with 18 as the frame number. 18 known legions, 2 missing - that CAN’T be a coincidence. What does it mean?

HERESY! - This is one of the new plastic objective markers from the new Saturnine boxed set.

HOT news

We’re hearing that Horus Heresy new ed box is definitely coming and features Salamanders as the main faction! Unexpected, but we’re here for it – finally some glory for our guys in green.

HERESY! - Yup! This one was legit. We’ve all got Vulkan to thank for those new Saturnine suits.

Push-fit Heresy???

Found this - thinking its green for Salamanders? GW usually use the coloured sprues for push-fit stuff - Underworlds etc.

Thoughts on push-fit minis in the big Heresy box?

HEARSAY! - The new Warhammer: The Horus Heresy sprues are neither push-fit, nor green.

Stomp Stomp

Seen this doing the rounds. Looks like a Heresy-era Dreadnought? Don’t recognise it. Looks massive. Maybe Leviathan? Redemptors in 30k? Looks big. What do we reckon?

HERESY! - It WAS a Dreadnought, and it IS massive. That’s a Saturnine Dreadnought foot!

Rules Overhaul?

Apparently there’s a d18 in the box - obviously something we’ve never seen in Heresy before.

d18, 18 legions – two theories on this. maybe some new mechanic for choosing legion special rules, or some sort of legion Supremacy roll? Will see if we can find out anything else.

HEARSAY! - No dice!

THIS IS A TOTALLY 101% LEGIT WARHAMMER WEBSITE
